Apparent motion is not only an optical phenomenon regarding the human perception of movement but also the title of a piece by American Film- and Media-Artist Paul Sharits from 1975.
I take the liberty to borrow this title as name and inspiration for this project, as it captures the essentail properties of exhibiting moving image.
The intention behind this website is to continuously collect and document research in the fields of Media Art, Video Art and their relation to the cinema. The contents of this website will include an extensive bibliography, links to resources as well as individual artists.
